Found all the fittings I've needed so far over at summitracing.com  I'd say try there. Earls plumbing supply's them.

30 amps into a toggle switch.. it works if you have a huge 40+ amp switch, but I'd only use that method in a bind, like a trail fix. You should really think about wiring in a relay for amperage that high.

After doing some research and input from everyone I am going to wire in a 40 amp relay and then a small in line fuse from the relay to the switch. 3-5 amp probably.

Well went back out after the baby went to sleep and welded the seat mounts and seat belt mounts in, just need to weld the submarine belt mount in. Was moving along when I caught a whiff of fuel. So naturally I stop welding and see a gel like substance on the concrete and sure enough, my new fuel line is being eatin away by the fuel :shaking: obviously the guy at the hose shop was wrong in saying "oh sure this is rated for fuel"

Anyway I pulled that line and ill get a black fuel line just like the other two tomorrow along with a relay for my efan.

Up at the fuel tank also melting. I noticed also the red hose was real flimsy and I could bend it with ease, lesson learned buy the right crap the first time!

That would be awesome. It's all mainly tube and sheet metal work at this point and some wiring.

kdub0013

I am going to clearance and tub my fire wall more because even in the driveway that 42 was awfully close to my cab. At the same time here is a better idea of where I'm going with the cage. X and harness bar behind front and rear seats and everything else triangulated. It shouldn't look like a jungle gym when it's done but it will be safe. The shot with crap in the wheel well is the shock hoops I have which will in turn tie into the engine cage area.

superyota

Dang!  thats alot of tube work.  Rig's looking good.

Thanks

Yeah it's a lot of tube work but at least its basically straight pieces at this point. I need to figure out where to mount my 42"spare.

superyota

I keep my 37 inch spare in the bed of of my tow rig   :disturbed:.
I don't like wheeling with the extra weight.

Good point. I guess worse case one of us is driving back to get the spare then

kdub0013

Worked on the floor today and at that time I asked myself "why don't I just raise the drivetrain since I am here" anyway that's what I did so now I'm hanging 1.5" below the frame. :pokinit: pics and :pokinit: progress. A buddy is coming over next weekend and we are finishing all the tube work. In the mean time I will wrap the rest of it up.

I thought you were going to be driving it this weekend :headscratch:  what's taking so long?

It drove out of the garage last weekend and I backed it in that was the goal.

kdub0013

Replaced that crap fuel line and worked on the floor tonight. Front is done just needs seam seal and paint. Has to be ready in a month for the rubicon. I ran out of welding wire so had to resort to the flux core I had laying around. Whatever it works fine. Cage is getting done Saturday.

TheChewMaster

Just gotta bust out the chipping hammer.

Glad to hear she moves again. You should be done in a month, your work has been pretty diligent this winter

superyota

Looking good buddy!  don't forget to weld in a receiver on the back end  :smokin:

1 month from this friday and it will be trail tested  :driving:

Yessir. I actually don't mind welding with flux from time to time.

I have the receiver tube, just need to weld it on my bumper and gusset the crap out of it.

I am hoping to test it before that trip but that may not happen. I need to leave the rear on jack stands and turn those gears for several hours to break in. I will be ready though.

kdub0013

Got the rear seat mocked up where I want it. Also taped the cage lines because I needed a 3d view, paint wasn't cutting it.

NITE KRAWLERS

Thanks gents! I think it will be simple but safe. It will have some good triangulation and function.

TheChewMaster

Looking quite nice. I feel like i just seem some of this before........................what do they call it

oh ya, Dr. Smash is making it, masking tube

If I was shorter I would proudly sit in that back seat. Anything going over the top of the rear seat?

If it's good enough for dr smash it's good for me!

Yes I will have everything tied in overhead, just didn't mask it.

kdub0013

Going to get some more 1x1 and expanded metal for the rear bed area behind the rear seat. I figured I would save a little weight by not sheeting everything with steel. The passenger area will be enclosed a seam sealed to to keep fordyce out of my cab :grinpimp:

I think once the cage is done this weekend I will feel a little less anxious about getting this done.

Anyone think its better to tie the stock bed sides back in or just leave them as skins and box in the seat area from the tube?

x250f23x

So what time do the free rides start at?  :bananabeer:

TheChewMaster

I've seen both done. If it was me, I would just use the bedsides as skins around the tube forr the rear, less weight and you still have some sort of a "bed" but I guess it is more work to cut em up
