Whats your goal? Best crawl? Or street performance? 488s would be better for the street. YOu could and prob will go up to 33s, then you wont have to re gear
Dr.Maxwe001 – well i have a 15 gal compressor now and if I gett he 60  and then use the 15 as a reserve that wil give me 75 gal  thats close to 80 isnt it ?

you would only need the 456s if your running a 33to 35 tire so 410s and 31s are fine

please help what will the 4:56 gears do to better me

What transmission do you have now?  If you have an auto, you would want to bump up one gear set taller than what is called for with the 5-spd in order to achieve near stock performance.  In other words, if you have an auto now, you need 4.88's for the stock performance with the 31's.

If you have a 5-spd, the 31's are about 11% taller than the 4.10's, so your truck is performing like it has 11% less power, swapping in 4.56's will put you back to stock specs, or the same as if you dropped back down to 28" tires.  Your speedometer and odometer will also corrected a right now they are reading about 11% off.  Your gas mileage may improve a little bit now if you are already factoring in the the 11% difference, or a lot if you are not.

You can usually run one gear set taller than the tires you have and not run out of top end speed, I know of a few people who run 33's and 5.29's with the 22re and really like how it performs.  You can find out what your rpms are with different tire/gear ratio combos here at Drivetrain Calculators, and you can find your transmission gears ratios here Marlin's Transmission Gear Ratio Chart.

bottom line is if you want to spend a few hundred bucks on the 456gears go right ahead. If you get them now than when you go up in tire size you won't have to regear is depends on your budget though

I'm running 4.56's with 31's and my speedo is accurate and my power band is where it should be.

My kid is running 4.10's with 31's and it's not so good on the street. He hardly uses 5th gear and he always bitches about his lack of power and his gas mileage. The inaccurate speedo is a pain too.

If you got em, run em. Like somebody already said, it's a no brainer.

no joke, im running 410s and 36s, and i pull all my gears fine? only time it sucks is offroad. I honestly have ZERO probs at all, good power, can put it in 5th gear on freeway. I DO have to drag the clutch just a tad more starting, but meh. 300k on the 22re

I run 4.10's on 37's on dual cases which is fine for the trail, but I am only drive there or for a beer run oh and I don't even think about 5th gear.

4.10 thirds are easy to come by, cheap and stronger don't waste money on new gears until you get larger tires.

For a DD I would just leave the 4.10s and 31's hell even 33's run great on the road and wheel nice on the trails with 4.10's.

Just my opinion good luck.

Sorry but that is not correct.  Look at the chart again they are at opposite ends from each other.  You either choose for better mpg or better acceleration.  you will get what people call more power if you go to the 4.56 due to mechanical advantage, but you will get worse gas mileage due to higher revs on your engine.  Better mpg is at the other end of the spectrum with 3.72.

If you have both available I would say it ultimately depends on what you want to do with your rig. I personally have 31's on 4.10 gears and I love it. I use it for street/trail use with dual ultimate transfer cases.

I always thought they came with P225/75R15, turns out they spec'd both.  So now I wonder what the stock ratio was for the P225/75R15 as opposed to the 31's.

off road, diff gears don't make a huge diffrence. so its more of a matter about the area you drive. is their a lot of hills etc.
