Ever swallowed a bone? hmmm..
« on: Apr 13, 2011, 08:15:37 PM »
I did!   Not really sure if I should go to the doctor or just wait it out. Last Thursday I swallowed what I think was a rib bone from a small chicken that I cooked. It felt somewhat large only because it went down my throat slowly. I've been doing alot or research online and most say as long as you don't have major symptom's then you will be fine because your stomach will coat the bone w/ muccas to help your bowel's pass it through the digestive tract.

Thankfully bowel movements have not changed (so i'm assuming it's not stuck)  but I have been having abdominal "discomfort"  little sharp pain's here and there.. on both sides.. not in any exact spot just randomly. Seem's to be worse when I sit down rather then standing up... or atleast more consistent. I can't seem to try and recreate the pain either, things like bending, tightening abdominal  muscles and pushing down on any part of my mid section doesn't seem to trigger any kind of specific pains..  odd?  or hopefully a good sign?   I'm not really sure..

I've contemplated chatting with a doctor about getting an x-ray done.. but just havn't committed myself yet. I'm one of those types that absolutely hates going to the doctor and typically will try anything prior to going....

Any advice?  similar stories with outcomes?     :help:

If you have any pain, get a ct scan done, it could perforate your bowel, thats fatal, trust me I know first hand. It wasnt from a bone though, but it can happen.
Dr.Maxwe001 – well i have a 15 gal compressor now and if I gett he 60  and then use the 15 as a reserve that wil give me 75 gal  thats close to 80 isnt it ?

Well bf does it hurt or will it matter?  Could he spit it out in the future or by swallowing the bone is it permanent? Hold on I'll ask the wife.

Seriously though you should seek a professional for advise on this sensitive matter swallowing a bone may or may not be a problem since the acids in the stomach may just break it down.

I knew I was asking for it from a brainlessfool's prospective... but figured there where some mature people on here that would answer the question seriously.

It's all good  :)

Went to the doctor today, told me everything should be fine.... bone is pure calcium which the body can absorb. He said typically if it'll go down your throat it'll come out the other end. He said people swallow pin bones all the time and are perfectly fine... sooo... hopefully the stomach pain's get better soon.
