Unrelated project for sale
« on: Jan 17, 2005, 05:42:06 PM »
1977 Datsun 280Z restoration project unfinished. All the body work and paint has been done along with the suspension. The suspinsion is all adjustable solid bushings with lowering springs and oversized sway bars. There is two engines one stock and one that is oversized with turbo pistons and ballanced. There is a aftermarket turbo setup incuded. The dashboard was replaced with an OEM replacment that alone is worth $600.00. The paint is a candy blue polyurathane. I sold this on ebay once, but the guy did not pick it up. Make an offer and it could be yours.

Yep. about 13 years ago. It has been sitting in the garage covered for that long. I started this over 15 years ago and was always to busy working on evertbody elses stuff to finish mine.

Ask away! It isn't doing anybody any good here. This was a nice car before I started and after 15 years out of circulation it could be a great car again.

:(  :shake_head:  :snare:  :stomp:  :rivers:   You made me run the gammot on this one.  I've never liked the fact that I sold my Z.  To add insult to injury it was about the same color too.  It was the coolest project I never finished, a straight rust and bondo free 71 240z.  I had aspirations of having a 280 block bored to 3100cc, have some headwork done and start embarassing some v8 cars.  I sold it to get a place with a friend who had an abusive step dad, and have missed that car dearly ever since.  I don't personally like anything after 73, but can appreciate how clean yours is,  good luck sellin it,    Nate

Both of these were done with PPG. The blue one is base silver with a transparent blue tinted clear built up to give the deep ritch color and then cleared over with more DBU clear. This is how to do a proper candy job. The red one has a single stage DCU Gaurds Red Porsche color with DCU clear on top. Both were wet sanded with 1200 and buffed. Thats what gives them the glass like finish. I did this stuff  for over fifteen years, most of that time in my own body shop. Nowadays I don't anymore, I fix walk in freezers and ice machines. What a change huh. Anyhoo I would like to find this one a good home, someone that likes these cars and can appreciat it for what it is. They don't make them like this anymore and they are getting harder to find in good shape. Most of the parts can still be gotten if you know where to look.
