Thanks scout. its coming along slow and steady for sure. What transfer case are you trying to trade? the one in your truck or your extra one? cause you can get the top shift conversion to make it work. And that soda blaster was the best 35.00 dollars i spent at harbor freight, it beats sanding by hand or using paint stripper! you can borrow it if you want but you just need to pick up a bag of baking soda cause i am just about out.

they came out nice. where do i get the soda for the blaster??  are you going to be home saturday?  Do we need to get the triple drilled flanges for the diffs. I need to make another Marlin run for diff studs, flange, and trunion bearings. dont want to use the TG ones.

i think I'm gonna have to work Saturday but if i get it off ill call you over. Harbor freight sells the baking soda. they have medium grade and XL, the XL is what i got and it work good. If there is alot of caked on gristle then it takes a little longer but if its just paint it goes fairly quickly.... and ya we need the triple drilled flanges from Marlin because the spline count on the new gears are different than the OEM Tacoma ones and our drive shaft dont fit the stock pattern on the E locker diff right know either....or something like that?

Also got all the rings set up on the pistons. But need to run to HF to get a piston ring compressor to put them in the block. :smack:

Took advantage of Marlin's "Deal of The Week", I am thinking i should just install every thing while the trans is on the shop floor......well see what kind of time is allowed....I can already taste the awesomeness of having duals! lol

...and of coarse here's the obligatory picture. I got an extra Turtle knob for the twin sticks that will go on later.

x2 I really should jump on this sale.

Are you worried about dirt and other things getting in that truss you put on? Looks like it shouldn't be to bad to clean out, but just a thought.

Thanks guys. PeterBuilt- Iam not too worried about mud since in will spend 90% of its time on mostly dry "fire road" type trails, granite, and the street. 8)

@ wakkjobb & scoutruner.....you guys are hilarious :rofl2:! But seriously i am going to do all i can to get everything installed at once, but when its your daily driver it gets a little  when i cant drive it for an extended period of time.

Got to keep this thread alive even though i haven't done much  :shake: ..... Well my head should be here today or tomorrow :crossed:. Also realized that the first machine shop that i had my block at lost the two main oil galley plugs in the block, so i ordered those yesterday too....Anyways i ended up taking the crank out of the block because i heard you are supposed to take out the 4 oil galley plugs and clean out the crank passage ways of sludge and/or metal specks from the machining, so i did.

After spraying WD-40 and clearing out the passages with compressed air, i put back the 4 plugs and re-staked them so they wont back out.

Crank back in with Joe Gibbs Assembly grease of course..

Torqued the Main and rod caps to spec

Also had Ron's Machine surface my Exhaust Manifold flange because it was warped a little.

Even got the Break-In oil ready to go! :gap:
