85 22R (carb'd) intake on an 83 22R
« on: Mar 02, 2011, 05:09:54 AM »
I am swapping an 83 22R into my 85 P/U 22R. I have a header that was previously on the 83, but it didn't have the intake. I've searched ALOT on the exhaust differences and deck height and t/chain differences from the pre 85 blocks compared to the 85+ carb blocks, but didn't find much on the intakes. Will my 85 intake fit the 83 block?

All of the 22R intake manifolds have the same bolt pattern.  So you can put your '85 manifold on the '83 with no issues.

the "pre 85" was avtually anything manufactured before august 1984 and had the round ports in the head instead of the teardrop shape and the pistons were doam shaped instead of flat your intake will fit on that motor there may be a stud or 2 that is different i cant rember that but it will work for sure

'85 and later heads will just have the extra mounting holes for the EFI manifold.  Actually even some '83 and '84s will have these extra holes.  These wont affect the carbureted manifold.
