« on: Feb 26, 2011, 06:06:49 PM »
Hey guys i need some help on what i should do. I'm looking  to doing some more extreme wheeling and i was should i do this putt marlins 30-spline-chromoly-rear-output-shaft or just go to dual cases. i don't have the  money for the dual case setup right now and i wanted to see if this would work for now? will i be able to do this? I would be putting it into my 93 Toyota pickup . thanks for the help in advance.

I disagree, many many people get by without the 30 spline rear and duals... there are many more mods that have higher priority, Longs, winch, cage, armor, gears, lockers etc.

I agree with Zach, the stock 27 spline stuff is great to begin with, even with duals.  My thought is if you're still running a (mostly) stock 22R/RE, then you're not going to break the 27 spline output shaft.

I wheeled stock dual cases with twin sticks in the rear case for 2yrs and never had any problems. This year, I'm upgrading to Marlins 4.7 crawl box as my rear case w/ Davez off road twin stick conversion.

That'd be a 21 spline.  But I've got duals both 21 spline and 40s and haven't had any trouble.  IMO duals is the 2nd best upgrade for a toyota right behind 30 spline longs.

He's talking about the output shaft that the drive flange bolts to, not the input shaft.  Input shafts are 21 or 23 spline, output shafts are 27 or 30 spline.
