What is best steering box up grade with out going to hydro asst?  And what is the best Hydro asst up grade box?

Never had a problem with Toyota IFS boxes. If you are going hy-steer you will have to change the box with one where the pitman goes side to side not forward and back unless you want to do some type of bell crank set-up.

Toyota IFS steering boxes are definitely the best to use. Other options are out there, but IFS boxes can be found for the cheapest and can be easily adapted to run hydro assist.

You could probably run a bronco box but ifs box is the easiest
