Chromoly R-series Thrust Washer Kit
« on: Jan 19, 2011, 06:59:26 PM »
Our very popular Chromoly R-series Thrust Washer Kit is now available for online ordering.

Product link: http://www.marlincrawler.com/transmission/parts-upgrade/chromoly-r-series-thrust-washer-kit

It is very common for the factory Toyota first gear thrust washer in R-series transmissions to fail under high power applications. This is due to a square lock-pin keyway design. Our thrust washer features a rounded lock-pin keyway for a greater crosssectional area while eliminating the high stress points from the rectangular factory design.

Every Race and Competition R-series transmission we build receives this awesome kit and we strongly recommend anyone running 300 ft-lbs or more to upgrade to this component as soon as possible.

Applications include R150, R150F, R151, R151F, R154, and other R-series transmissions.

Regards,
BigMike

Recently I was rebuilding my trans (ya'll's thankyou letter is being emailed shortly), but I did notice that my thrust washer (1st gear) had a rounded pin not an angled pin. Could this indicate that I have ya'll thrust washer?

You need to check the keyway on the thrust washer, not the pin.

Here are some pictures I took of some damaged Toyota washers. Compare the difference in the stock square cutout and the round cutout on our washer. Click each image for a larger view.

Stock square lock-pin keyway

Stock stress & fracture location

Common stock failure

Gaulding of softer stock material
