I have the Tacoma booster and master, i've got the same situation as you. you do what you can. This is also why I've avoided offering these.

The larger booster definetly makes a crowded area more crowded. I will come up with something, just trying to figure out the best way to do so.

Well, not to push you or anything, but you may want to start a build thread of your own so we aren't hyjacking Noahs.

I live the Fox shocks...anyway, here are a few measurements I took this evening. As with everything else, I think this might just fit.

Ride Height
1) Ground to center of hub = 18 1/2"
2) Pan hard to frame, top of notch = 4"
3) Bumpstop pad to frame (not notched portion) = 5 1/2"
4) Bumpstop pad to refernce bolt in fender well = 19 1/2"

Double Stuff (axle straight up)
1) Ground to center of hub = 21"
2) Pan hard to frame, top of notch = 1 1/2"
3) Bumpstop pad to frame (not notched portion) = 3"
4) Bumpstop pad to refernce bolt in fender well = 16 3/4"

Passenger Stuff
1) Ground to center of hub = 28"
2) Pan hard to frame, top of notch = 1/16"
3) Bumpstop pad to frame (not notched portion) = 4"
4) Bumpstop pad to refernce bolt in fender well = 17"

Driver Stuff
1) Ground to center of hub = 29"
2) N/A
3) Bumpstop pad to frame (not notched portion) = 3"
4) N/A

Staying on topic.... Sorta.... What size Shocks and shock towers would you suggest for this kit? Or is it going to vary from each build?

I am going to run 14" 2.0's...

Quick update: Even though the numbers I posted looked good, there was still some room for improvement. After discussing it with Brian, we decided to drill a new hole in the axle side upper link bracket to lower the upper link an inch and get more straight double stuff. I also cut about 3/16" off the bottom of the frame side upper link mount and lowered it to the furthest front and inboarded point...Results are:

1) Ground to hub on double stuff = 22 1/4" (1 1/4" gain)
2) Bump pad to frame = 2" ( 1" gain)

I think I have now squezed every last inch out of this thing... or at least what I can reasonably expect.

Later,
Noah

I'd say so. Your Upper isnt far from your starter. Looks Good.

Actually, the upper link comes in contact against the clutch cylinder, which you can just see. I am hopeful that this new setup works well.

Once again, super Brian stepped up and helped get a few kinks ironed out. Here is where we stand as of this evening: the frame is reinforced above the notch with a piece of 2 1/2" .250 wall square tube. Maybe not the sexiest thing on the planet earth, but I think it will be plenty strong..

The shocks are positioned and hoops are bent and tacked in place. I need to make shock tabs that look like upside down banana's in order to avoid hitting the shock body. In the end, the shock hoop did not have to go inside the fender which is awesome because I don't really have to move anything, just bend the AC hard line a little.

The list of what is left to do (please add anything I missed):
1) Make shock tabs and mount shocks, cycle and adjust as needed. This includes getting 90 degree mounts for the reservoirs.
2) Figure out the brake line situation at the axle and at the frame rail and fuel line at the rail.
3) Replace the Johnny Joint balls with ones that have 5/8 holes. Replace the Heim misalignment spacers with ones that have 5/8 holes (all my stuff has 9/16..don't ask).
4) Weld everything
5) Put everything back together

No, we tweaked it. Its 4.5" when both tires stuff. And the original 18.5" axle height was wrong, it should be 17.5". Even that will leave about 1.5" of shock shaft showing when both stuff, but you still max out the shock with left to right articulation and has about 6"s showing. If he were willing to bend the upper link some, he could get another inch or so.

Hi,

Pesty work got in the way of my play time this week, but I got a little done this week. It was one of those days that not much got done...lots os thinking, cycling, more thinking and creating dinoasaurs (also known as shock mounting tabs).

Noahrob

Once I got the template built in cardboard, I made it out of 1/8 plate and got everything mounted up. For the time being, I didn't mess with the 90 fitting for the shock. Anyway, after a couple of hours of messing with templates, the plasma cutter and the shock I got everything where I wanted and BAM...of course, the shock hit the bumpcan bolt at full stuff. OK, take everything apart, pull off the shock hoop, cut out the bump can and rotate it, put everything back together and make a new bracket. Round 2 was going well, but then the spring was catching the frame on full droop, so again, took things apart and made a new bracket. Finally, got things where I wanted so made a bracket out of 1/4 plate...Made the bracket using the plasma cutter, grinder and flap wheel...Not 100% that was the best way, but that is what I did, might try the cutoff wheel next time.

Noahrob

OK, there is not much room at all, I mean I have less than a 1/4 inch everywhere, between the tire at stuff and the frame on droop...

Noahrob

Originally I was gogin to add 90 degree fittings, but not sure I need to anymore...

TacoRunner

Noah, what size tire, rim and spacer did you say you were running?

Turns out that 37x14 Iroks on 8" rims with 4.5BS don't leave a heck of a lot of room for coilovers...not sure if it is going to fit or if I am going to have to get new wheels...Here are a few pics to see how close close is.

Noahrob

I made some progress today, got the tabs welded on the hoops and the driver side hoop tacked in place. Moved the lower mounts from the top of the axle bracket to the side of the bracket which gives me the room I need to clear the frame. Also, I got some 3/8" 90 degree NPT fittings so I can move the hose on the shock and clear the tabs.

The tabs ended up being pretty long off the hoop so I made them out of 1/4 plate and added a 1.5" gusset across the back to make them stronger .

As for the wheels, I have a couple of options, but the short version is I have to do something. Might try and sell my whole set and get something else...or just buy Allied beadlocks.

Noahrob

Got my new wheels. and they fit perfectly...Steel allied beadlocks!

The other thing I did was replace the straight hose on my FOA with a 90 degree. Long story short, the hoses on FOA are crimpped so my choise were to get a 90 NPT and insert it or get new hoses. I tried the adapter first, but couldn't locate a male to female that would clear the collar so I ordered new hoses from FOA. Well, the hoses showed up with a new endcap on it so I had to disassemble the resevoir to put the new cap on. My buddy was here helping. He runs Kings and was surprised at the amount of effort it took me to get the resevoir apart. Also, the shock oil is very thin...might replace it, not sure yet. Anyway, while I was looking at the shock I found this...WTF?

Dang, can't post pics, but as soon as I can, I will.
