If it's a vented rotor, the holes need to centered between the internal webbing.

that's pretty helpful. the one thing i have heard is that if you drill them to close it'll crack the rotor and to far away it won't do anything. i don't know if i have the guts to try it and possibly ruin some brand new rotors

Seems like a lot of work. Id rather buy a new set that are already drilled before trying that.

Just make sure you know what you are doing first.  I dont like running questionable brake components.  Ive never had a problem with my brakes now but i havent ran any upgraded brakes to know what i would be missing.

What are you going to use the truck for. Drilled/slotted are a good idea on a DD but if you are going to wheel it and get into any muddy conditions they suck. The mud will get into the holes/slots and tear up brake pads.

I DD it around 150 miles a week, usually when i go offroad its rocks, usually on a creek bed and now snow, but i do run it in the sand occasionally and mud maybe 4 times a year.

I have a buddy who tried this on his mustang many many many rotors later he bought a set already drilled.  There is a lot to it as far as pitch and speed of the bit, cracks start very tiny but any amount of heat and cooling starts the process of warping and cracking.  We talked to a guy from Steve Millen racing, he went into way too much detail but we got the point not really a home brew deal unless you have the proper set up to drill them.
