from what ive read i have to upgrade to a 30spline axle, is there any other option, looking for the cheap way out

you do not need to upgrade your axles stock birfields or stock rear axles have the same spline count
81 Hilux, E-Lockers, 5.29s, Duals, 30 spline Longfields, 8274 Warn, 40" Iroks, F150s and RUF

It is a good idea, but not necessary.

27 is the count on the stock inners of the birfs... aftermarket is 30 to be stronger
:usa: 92 xcab, full width, 39.5 boggers, beadlocks, 60 f arb 5.86s , 60 r spool , duals, 4.7 rear... 3.sl0, bobed , all pro 6 inch leafs f and r :usa:

so the factory is 30spline at the 3rd member then 27 at the birf? :dunno:

i forgot wat the factory 3ed count is..but ya the end of the inner shaft that goes into the birf.aka the one u cant see is the 27  spline

Ran into another problem, Dude finished setting up my third last night, he said the pattern looked nasty. He said the pinion needed to go in another thousandth of an inch, but when he shimmed it, it hit the carrier and locked it up. His next question to me was are you sure you ordered the correct bearings. So this is what i ordered, yukon gears for a v6 in 5.29 ratio, install kit part number YK TACOMA-LOC, and the third is out of an 05 Tacoma, any ideas guys?
