Disc Brake parking $$$Brake PAD$$$ ?????
« on: Dec 06, 2010, 08:52:56 PM »
OK, I've searched,
even taken the pads into My local NAPA dude who actually likes to search the catalogs by pic and by part#
and a certain Vendor (A.P.O.R.) even shows a pic of the pads with a # stamped on them "50D207"
then the part in their online ad stating "5206-AP-10024"
the internet and my phenomenal search techniques has yielded me nothing.

Do I really have to pay $89.00 for new pads?
Can some specialty shop drill out the rivets holding the pads onto the plates and put new ones in?
Do you have another option.

Pic taken from 4xFlyin and "painted" by me

Attn Haters, I  misspelled "form" in my paint magic below, should read "from" and even forgot the "p" in pad.

there is a local company here that relines semi brake shoes, they can reline anything (they say) and i would asum it would be cheaper than 89 but IDK.... so there is prob someone local to you..... look for a friction supply house..

my questions is.... how in the hell did you wear out a ebrake pad....
Those are some huge welds!

Well, the obvious answer would be drove it around with the brake applied, me I'm 6'3" so that's not the case, actually, it was worn pretty good when I bought it so much so it wouldn't hold, unless I cranked on cable, (now broke also) :smack: ,
oddly enough the disc isn't warped cause you gotta think some P.O. had to make a habit of forgetting it was on,  either that or the P.O. liven in like San Fran on a STEEP hill...
thanks I might try the semi truck rebuild shop in town, any online "re-liners" anyone has gone through?

serious?

Its a figure of speech to say I forget to take off my E-brake some times, esp with low gears. Guess we don't share the same sense of humor.

I have no idea what that means.

So do you guys know where to get the pads or not?

Hoping somebody in the brake/machining business see's that there is a need for spares, what with flat rate box shipping and all...
If I get a fix made I'll post up a how to thread,
just to undercut the (expletive's) that dare charge $89 bones...

You can get them relined at a cheaper rate. A friction shop can handle that. Generally a place that rebuilds clutches can do it. You can ask a local truck repair place who they use to reline their brake shoes. The same place can do those. You can also ask your local napa store if they can recommend someone. Maybe we can all ask in our local areas and post up for future reference.

You can get you pads, relined or new.  You can get them yourself too, look for any Cushman dealer.  I use a Cushman, caliper cause its the same damn thing.  They used this same caliper on Toro, Kubota, Cushman, Jake lawn products.  Cushman will have a different part number than on the caliper or pad, so you might need a helpful dealer.  When I was in the Golf Course trade, they were like $13 for the pads, a while ago.

4runchevy, thanks for the Cushman golfcart direction, NEVER would of thought of that and seems the part is widely proliferated.....
part Cushman #883141
searched ("Cushman Park Brake Pad #883141") RIB STYLE in google still $20 with $10 for shipping FOR ONE, is better, but the frugality gods are still not satisfied...
looking for a real good price to finally slay the allproexpensiveA$$ dragon

the "seller" says...  ("Cushman has used this Park Brake Pad from the 1960's to Present.  Part numbers that may be in your parts book are 883141. directparts.com produces and distributes all of the parts you need for your Cushman vehicles.")
pic is of non rib style, but who doesn't have an angle grinder,,,

tomorrow I'M gonna try the place 4xflyin spoke of stick them in a flat rate ups box and wait till after Christmas, if the price is right...

They must be made with gold or does palladium have better stopping power?

Geesh,  the prices range from $89 to $55 to $27 each to $20 each less shipping...somebody needs to raid a golf cart salvage yard and fleabay themselves some serious money!

We have several cushmans at work, we get all our parts from Textron (they own Cushman, ClubCar, and Jacobson).

I am sure I have a box of ever so slightly used one's somewhere.  I'll check into it.
