Toyota 8" Gear install, Write-up

So i recenlty built and installed my rear Toyota 8" third member. I took alot of time taking pics and even made a write-up on the process. Let me know what you think! Any errors or things missing let me know and i'lle try and get them added! Thanks Zippo!

If you could some how cut and paste that, people would have a lot more " depth" of how to set it up the rite way!! Nice  :turtle:

nice writeup the only yhing I can fault is using a brass or aluminum drift on bearings, both being a soft material will chip or flake leaving bits in the bearing, only mild steel drifts are suitable the wont damage the hardened bearings
own a 1989  LN106r diesel with a 1KZ-T 3 litre turbo diesel  bolted to a imported R151F gearbox with snorkel Rancho springs & shocks & Detroit lockers F & R & 11x 32  cooper sst ultimate dual transfer cases 130 litre fuel tank   full floating disc brake rear end

One of the best Toyota gear install writes ups that I've seen. Very cool. Great ideas for the homemade tools too.

I don't have a problem with my drifts splintering. I clean grind the end often. The race driver has no splintering issues especially if you press with it. But I agree a soft steel metal drift will also work, but a lot of people don’t know or can’t tell the difference."It only takes a little scratch the destroy the bearing. If you do have shaving, just wash then out with a little break cleaner and go.

Another way I use, is you take the old race, flip it so it is tapper to tapper and use that to tap it in. Works in a pinch.
