A nice but overpriced sammy?
« on: Oct 30, 2010, 09:02:06 PM »
I'm still keeping a keen eye out for a builder sammy and saw this on the local cl.  Seems well set up, not tacky or too tall.  http://redding.craigslist.org/cto/2034263614.html

Here's how the ad reads:

Suzuki Samurai JX, 1986 16 valve 1.6 fuel injected engine with Doug Thorley headers and K&M air cleaner. Trail Tough spring over lift with knuckle over steering. 4:1 transfer case with skid plate, on board air compressor with tank and ARB air locker in rear. Interior good complete with rear seat. Tires are 31x10.50 with 80% tread plus comes with 8 extra tires mounted on rims. Sale includes 3 tops-full, safari and bikini; Roof rack with front and rear lights
Excellent hunting rig or daily commuter. Owned and driven by adult for past 11 yrs. $4500.00 Firm-No trades or discount

Agreed.  Always a little hard to put a price on something that's been modded, but if the 8 tires and wheels and tops are in good shape, it's probably worth it.  Seems like if you could get it for $3500 you'd be getting a helluva deal!  If my 2wd had better paint and a nicer seat, and I had more money, I'd offer him the truck and some cash for it.

I think that most Samurai's are over priced in general, but if you look at the stuff that one has, 1.6 Sidekick engine swap, T-Case gears, ARB, etc... that's actually a pretty good price.  For comparison, I sold a similar looking, clean, but BONE STOCK Samurai for $3500.

they are like toyotas in that someone that wants one WILL pay for it...... but if you can wait you can get good deals...

my friend actually traded his 93 sr5 loaded, auto, leather, rear sagging, 250k mile plus 3.0 4runner for a really nice sami..lots of aftermarket parts and junk.. The guy wanted something to haul more than one person in and buddy wanted a better hunting rig, so they both won lol..

he was asking 3500 on CL for this one that he traded straight across for the runner..

pretty much just showing yea what else there is for around that price....

I sold my Junkerai for $5,000.00 in 06 and it had a lot less than this one. Mine still had the original engine and I took the Klune-V out. All the guy got was a lifted Samurai SPOA conversion and lockers.

Man, that was my favorite of your builds!  You should have kept it.

Samurai's and I have a love-hate relationship. I love to hate them.
