3.0 to 3.4?
« on: Sep 06, 2010, 01:34:24 PM »
How hard is it to put a 3.4 in place of a 3.0? I want to do the swap but do i have to replace the whole wiring harness?

Actually it is not that hard of a project. Not a weekend jig, but not rocket science either.

If you are in California and have to smog, it is much more difficult.

Here is a link to my thread of a 97 Runner 3.4 into a 92 pickup.

Lots of homework to do before you decide.

The wiring isn't all that hard. I would at least try it before you lay down some serious cash for a conversion harness. If you spend the time and read, you will be able to do it. This way you could also troubleshot problems in the future as you will know what is going on with your motor rather than just plugging something in to make it work.
