Found a front diff from 4x4yota for a good price! He shipped it out today so the 93 should be back on the trails next weekend! Just in time for some camping/fishing/wheeling and bow hunting!

Diff should show up today, gotta swap the drivers cv axle out and fab up some drop spacers for the housing to ease the binding under full drop due to the upper ball joint spacers.... So should be back in 4wd shortly :beerchug:

My diff finally showed up yesterday, got it all installed, made some custom 1'' drop spacers for the axle housing to set the cv angles down and rebuilt the drivers cv shaft. I used a piston wrist pin out of a cummins N14, around 2'' thick for the spacers and upgraded to 1/2'' bolts. Ive been at the shop till 3 past two nights and after midnight for the past week, im burnt out. My brother will be flying in noon Thursday then its off to the hills! fishing, camping, hunting deer and turkey,  :yesnod: should be a blast! Yota is still totally leak free and everything it working great! I might have a new windshield inatalled as well. I'm gonna do a litttle test trip tomorrow to ensure my front end mods are fully legit and I wont have to worry :beerchug: ill post up a few pics tomorrow night if i have time to take any. :driving: :burnout:

They mean business for sure! I love the way they just dig down and bite the hardpack! Had them aired down to 2 psi out at the dunes the other day, squated pretty good!

Still have alittle more fitment to do... Then french in my receiver hitch, few more frame braces and something around the sides for those almost lay it on its side moments...  :eyebrow:

I would have done more but its really cold, hands are beat from wrenching all day everyday, and it was almost 3 AM. I'll get more done tonight and post up the progress. :beerchug:  :flamer:

Thanks! Still need to figure out how I am going to bend the side tubes, get a receiver hitch welded in, few more gussets to the frame and some D ring mounts.... I like the way 1/2'' D ring mounts look but welding 1/2'' to .120'' wall tube is not the best idea strength wise when you are going to be reefin on it. Figure 3/8'' should work a lot better and still look legit. I'm all about function over form but I try to balance the two out to get the best of both worlds.

I need to find a 2wd rear axle to rob the spider gears out of for my front diff and some brake parts for my 82.... so if anyone in eastern WA knows of any cheap yota 2wd complete axles let me know, I don't care what ratio as its irrelevant to what I need it for :beerchug:

twistedtoy92

Yeah I actually did that up for a buddy of mine. Cant SAS this one (or long travel) until my runner is on the trails and my Audi turbo swap is done.... need this truck road worthy while I have the car down next month.... hopefully have it done within the month of January then its all about the 4runner until I can actually drive it. Little hard to balance 3 different projects but I'm somewhat managing... :beerchug:

Thanks bud! Lots of notching for sure, nice and slow with lots of oil! Hole saw bit is holding up nicely. It'll be nice to have a nice tight exo on it and a front bumper. By then I should have tuned in on my skills to do all the tube work on the runner. I actually scored a 14bolt for that if I decide to go full widths....

On a sidenote, I finally finished my custom 2wd rear spider gears that fit into my front IFS diff! It worked, took some machining with the carbide bits and a fair amount of patience but the 2wd spiders look and feel stronger than the front stock IFS ones. I'll have to post up pics later, need to finish putting this intercooler in a Volvo truck before I take lunch... :beerchug:

I have a few more little things to do on it this week before I start dd'ing it while I put the Audi down for the turbo swap. Got a baseline pull on the dyno the other day so we can see the before and after results, hopefully its around a 65-75% increase in hp!  :driving:  :burnout:

Well :pokinit: I grenaded ANOTHER set of front spider gears.... I think Im just going to buy a damn aussie to put in the front axle, what do you guys think? I want to SAS it but I need to focus on the 4runner after my audi is all legit so.... I could get another front diff for a bill OR just buy a lunchbox locker and eliminate my problem to then most likely find another weak link...... I believe this puts me at front IFS axle number 9/10....... :headshake:

Just poked my head in here.  I would go with an Aussie locker just to eliminate the headache of replacing those spider gears.  The Aussie in my 8" diff has been through a lot and worked well.  If you are going with a locker I would go Aussie.
