As of yesterday June 14th 2010, I have conformation of the trail being run from the Tahoe side in to Rubicon Springs. That trip took almost 12 hours! Last weekend, I know that some people made it to Rubicon Springs from the Loon Lake side.
The trail has been run in its entirety. This may be the latest date in a long while for a complete running of the trail after a late winter!. At least as far back as the 1980's.
The El Dorado side of the trail still has patches of snow and will be wet for another week or so. The Tahoe side will be wet for a minimum of two more weeks. I would not be surprised for snow to be in patches near the trail during Jamboree this year.
Placer County delivered 10 tons of rock to the Tahoe staging are yesterday and FOTR is gearing up for the busiest season yet for ongoing maintenance on the trail.
Stay tuned and make some time to come up and help out keeping this trail open to the public for generations to come!!
