22re rough idle
« on: Apr 25, 2010, 11:41:23 AM »
I am at a loss of what to check anymore. I have checked the AFM, replaced the fuel pump, Changed the cap/rotor wires, and plugs, new fuel filter. Checked and am getting a good spark on all the cylinders, no vacuum leaks. When I first start it it, will run smooth for a few sec, then it jumps up in rpms then back down it dose this a few time, then it gets rough, and stays running rough throughout the RPM range. I Checked the TPS and it checked out good. What else do I need to look at?????

Double check everything.
Does the idle change when you jump the TPS for timing adjustment?

sounds like the only thing left is the egr.  disconnect it and if it starts running better, there is probably a good chance its plugged up.

it could be a few things.....had that same problem with my wifes 22re runner. changed out idle air control valve and it solved majority of the problem. so i decided to check my intake elbow tube where connects to throttle body and plastic intake pipe, sure enough it had a nice crack on the bottom where it wasn't visible. replaced the elbow and it went away.

Ive had an idle loping prob for 2 years now, havent figured it out.
All Im lacking is a flux capacitor and the ability to hit 88.
