tires size/engine/gears?  its all going to make a difference in the decision.  assuming a 2.7L, probably 37's, for a driver drop, i'd have to say a d44.  they're a dime a dozen, and probably the next most common axle you'll find on the trail next to a toyota axle, which makes it easy to find parts for if you have to.  just my  :twocents:

Diamond toyota or hp d44 up to 37"s. D60 or 60/9 for bigger than that. :twocents:

yeah its a 2.7L and probably going to run 37s eventually. im going to collect all the parts and do it all at once since i cant afford to have my truck ripped apart for to long because i dont have an alternate vehicle. i was thinking 4.56 or 4.88 gears not sure which. the truck is going to see more road time than trail

how were you on width compared to the rear? did you have to run wheel spacers or anything?

they are almost exactly the same size. but i did go with 1.5 wheel spacers to widen my stance and fit the 38s

It's a little better than a yota axle because of the open knuckle. i use toyota rears up front so i think there 2.5"

i just dont know if i should go with a ford or waggoneer axle. i know i will be running 37s, single case for now, 63 chevys in rear and some ruf's from a 91 toyota, 5.29s

from what i have read:
ford: you can get a HP
they are harder to find
the 3/4 ton fronts have 1/2" tubes

waggy:
easier to find
they are already close to the rear width

i used the front range offroad kit. i dont know what there hanger was. 31.5 sounds right though.  you can use a toyota axle if you want i just didn't want to have to get a new tranny and transfer case to make it go to a yota axle. i run 38.5s with my waggoneer with chromoly shafts and haven't had a problem. its just what ever you find and feel like working on.

i ve just heard that the turning radius sucks with the waggy due to the springs being so close to the tires

i think if i get a full width ford hp tho, and chop down the long side only, i can run the 29" width and still be able to drive the thing on the road. it would require a custom long side shaft. but i think it would be better than the waggy.
