Charge issues....

So I have to jump my truck in order to start it. But once I get it started it will only run for about a minute or two before it dies. I changed the alternator, same issue. It's a 79 with a 20r so it has the external alternator thing. Any one have any ideas?

79 flatbed, 20r w/ weber, locked front and rear with lock-rites, 5.29's, 34" swampers, terafex shackles, yadda yadda yadda....

change the voltage regulator. have u made sure all ur wiring to the alternators good?

im gettin a new alternator wiring harness tomorrow. how often do voltage regulators go bad?

just depends on how much mud n water n crap it sees but they go out a lil less often then a reg alternator ied say
