QuoteOn to the transfer case...
Rocky built up a dual Ultimate Crawler unit using our new MC08-R10 dual adapter. This adapter rotates the rear case 10 degrees to the left. This rotation creates a flat bottom under the tcase.

Do you have to do anything speacial with the shifter when you use this adapter?
Beat to fit, Paint to match
Need a bigger hammer and more paint.

Not when used in a buggy. If you were trying to use this in a cab, you will have to make custom shifter to get it up through the floor. We plan to take advantage of the rotated shifters and bring the crawl box shifter back inline with the rear shifters. So all 3 tcase shifters will be in a line behind the transmission shifter.

I was thinking of putting this in my desert race truck, so I will have to contend with a "stock" cab and race seats. Can the shifter just be bent to clear or do I have to get creative?

Are you going to cover the rest of the tranny/tcase or just the d-shafts? Looking good.
Size doesn't matter... yet.

A good friend will bail you out, but your best friend will be sitting next to you saying "that was f---ing awesome."

The floor will cover the tcase and tranny.

X-bracing added to reinforce the cage behind the front seats. This will cramp the rear seat a bit but will add a lot of strength.

Just playing with graphic ideas for the side panels. We will have 12" stickers on each side, and a larger sticker on the roof. The truck will be red so starting with that here is what I have come up with...
What do you guys think?

UNBREAKABLE

Is it like the Tortise and the Hare kinda thing?

Exactly.  I think it represents how we are growing too.

If Marlin's truck is the Tortise than this one is the Hare!

WHITE_TRASH

At 1,037:1 Id definately agree Marlins truck is the tortise!

Nice graphic too!
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

With 2.28 and 4.7 gears this rig will be 172 to 1, huch higher than Marlin's 1980. even if we switch to two sets of 4.7 we will be around 350 to 1.

KYOTA

I like the tortoise and hare concept, maybe have the Marlin turtle on the left of where the hare is now so it looks like the turtle is going one way and the hare the other. Oh, maybe a little puff of dust under the hares feet to show movement.

See if you can get some sponsorship from KRZR and let them buy you guys some  :bling: parts.

The L52HD transmission received a short throw shifter that's to some special tig welding by rocky. We have never created a short throw shifter for the L before so this was a first try. To make it work, rocky cut off the top of the L shifter and replaced it with a G series top. The shifter also needed to be cut and welded together. After install the shifter will be bent back to fit behind the dash.

WHITE_TRASH

How come you guys are building it with an L series?

I know the L's are weaker than other trannies but a Marlin HD built L series tranny will do the job without a wimper!

The thing we like about the L is that it's 4" shorter than the later trannies. That will help shorten up the front shaft and allow us to move the driver forward in the cab.

WHITE_TRASH

I have no doubts that a Marlin built trans will hold up I was just wondering about the theory behind it.  I think having the dual ultimate will be about perfect in the buggy.  I find myself using the ultimate pretty rarely but its very nice to have. ;)

I think we will use low low first most of the time. We have to run 4.10 gears in the diffs, that a little higher than I would like.

WHITE_TRASH

Yup it would be nice to be able to use 5.29's but your overall gearing will be about right for comps.  Too low and you cant get enough wheel speed, too tall andyou get to bounce like a tellitubby on nodoz over everything.

I noticed that most of the other formula's move the engine and driver back more, I know that you all at Marlin have a little bit of a plan scheming I am wondering what it is. Why didn't you move every thing back as far as every one else. Not judging just wondering?Love the short throw, I am pretty sure that you guy's like the L52 for the extra bell housing strength with more than a dual ultimate, any other reason?
Sounds like more tree huggin hippie bull :pokinit:

maybe to give the driver a better view  :dunno:

I'm sure Chris will better answer this, but one reason is that we plan on running a rear bench seat so customers can ride along and get that hands-on experience! Also we will use the Buggy for shop excursions, so if a couple of our employees rigs are down, they can ride along in the buggy with Marlin

Today Rocky installed the flywheel  and clutch onto the back of the motor built by Big Mike. We are using one of our new ceramic clutch kits. The dummy, mock up tranny was removed and the fully built L52HD was installed.
