4inch mc rear lift, rears up front sits too low
« on: Dec 22, 2009, 10:34:41 PM »
I have marlin crawler 4inch rear leafs in the back and stock rear's up front. My question is, my rear sits a ton higher than the front and I am unsure of how to lift the front more. I know this question has been asked millions of times but was blown away by how much info was on rears in the front. Thanks for help with the nube question!

If you have stock rears in the front thats your problem you need to add 2-3 leaves to each from another rear pack.

I have tried adding i think 3 leafs, my high steer hits my springs and flip kit. I have sky's highsteer. I am away from my truck right now, but may have added 4 leafs so I cant check for sure. I also took one spring out of the rear 4 inch pack (2nd one up from the bottom) out and put it in the front, still too low. someone mentioned putting a front drop hanger, but really dont see a need to cut the old one off.
I basically just need a setup that will work/sit level, maybe a bit higher in the front and be daily driveable.

A drop hanger works wonders. I also installed 5.5" shackles. My RUF has 6 total leafs and with that set up. It breaks even with my alcon 4" rears. I would post a pic but I'm on my phone.

Look in my sig it has a link to what I have done to my yoda.

my ruf setup is all rears, main, main cut, 2nd, 2nd cut, third, forth, third cut i believe (or maybe that was my old pack ) but it clears 35s easy on a 85 runner and sits level with a 4" rear and stock shackles
Those are some huge welds!

Your issue i would say is your caster is messed. RUF's put your pinion angle down which puts your caster out of whack. Find out what degree of shims you need and put them between the spring and the axle.

I take it you did not use a drop hanger? If that is the case don't use the longer shackles it will make it worse.
The center pin on the RUF your 2" forward which will rotate the diff down.
I installed my own Drop hanger to help in that area.

I also installed longer shackles. Make sure ALL bolts are tight... I had a wobble at around 35. I notice my IFS gearbox was loose. And "U" bolts were loose. I also replace my TRE with new ones. All is well.
