prolly the best place for this
« on: Dec 21, 2009, 07:15:09 PM »
so im trying to trade the 4runner in my sig for a truck, this guy on craigslist emails me with an offer for a jeep, at first im thinking no way not a jeep. but this jeep sounds like the one jeep that i would like to own.
heres the specs he sent me.

68 cj 5, 225 v-6, sm420,toyota t-case 4.7 gears, toy. rear w/arb air locker, frt. toy. high pinion. ground up build about 5 years ago. boxed frame, wrangler springs, spring overs. custom cage, full top, bikini top, half doors. p.s,pdb, swing out spare tire. runs great, goes down the road smooth, straight, also does great on the trail

i like how it has toyota axles and trans case, and i know that the sm420 is awesome. but i know nothing about the engine besides that its a buick motor.

so to you jeep ppl how does this setup sound?
i love my toyotas but im sick of not being able to go wheelin.

What tires & gears? IIRC that motor is rated around 150hp & 225tq. Would this be a street driven rig also or just for wheeling? It would probably be a great wheeler with 35's on it due to the low gears in the tranny & transfer case. When I had the 4-cyl in my jeep it was rated around 150hp also and with 4.88's and 36's I had plenty of power for the rocks. It was the street & sand that I needed more power for.  :twocents:
