Stolen rig in Oakland, CA (FOUND!!!!)
« on: Sep 16, 2009, 12:20:34 PM »

I went outside this morning actually put in an alarm in my truck, to find out that it'd been stolen.

Its an 1985 4runner that's red with a white top. I had just started the build, so it wasn't very big, its got chevy 52 inch springs with new shackles on the back on 31" tires.

It was last seen infront of my house on Telegraph and Alcatraz.

Its got the old style california license plates (blue and yellow) and has the license plate 1MSM724.

I will reward anyone who helps lead to the recovery. (probably with beer)

Its loud as hell (due to a leaking exhaust manifold) and gutless, so I have no idea why anyone would take it....)

UPDATE:

We found it! We went driving this morning and drove under the 980 and found it sitting in a gated yard!

Flipped a U it just so happened that as I flipped a U there was a CHP unit driving the opposite way. I flagged em and he went out guns ablazin to check it out.

They ripped up the interior pretty good, tore into the ignition, stole the 3 toolboxes in it (ugh), the stereo, poured the quart of oil I had in the back all over the motor, then they took off the coil wires so it wouldn't start. On the bright side they didn't get the actual speakers, they left my rocklights which were in a box in the back seat. They also didn't steal the shocks that were in the back seat.

(All this :pokinit: was covered by blankets and clothes so it just looked like there was a buncha trash in the back)

Main thing is it runs, it isn't crashed and its home!

Now to put in the security systems.........

First off thanks to the bay area crew for keeping an eye out!

I was going to install the alarm/killswitch today when I discovered that it had been stolen.

I've been scouring the area, I went all the way down telegraph both ways, up and down san pablo for a good 6 miles in each direction, all along the 80 and 980.

They couldn't have gotten far because the top speed is 55-60mph lol.

If you haven't been advised yet, by chance, if you should happen to find it and it appears driveable, don't just jump in it and go.  :nonono: You have to call OPD (or PD of wherever you find it) to report the recovery. Then they will release the vehicle back to you to make the recovery legit.

Otherwise, you're technically driving a stolen vehicle (assuming you reported it stolen). In which case, it could be just your luck to get stopped in said stolen vehicle and you'll be treated as the thief until you are properly Identified.  :yikes:

You don't wanna end up here ....  :jail: and then get treated like this..... :bumpinbutts:

Well I basically made a map of the areas that everyone mentioned on here and on Pirate and hit them from west to east. I drove down 12th, went to Peralta and cased that whole area. I cut over to the blocks above 7th and it was effin ghetto. I was like if the truck got dumped, it was definitely here.

We headed out down Mendela from 7th and under the freeway behind a gate the GF spotted it. I flipped a pregnant dog and we were gonna call 911 but we saw a CHP officer and we flagged em down and he went out gun ablazin over to the truck, but unfortunately no one was there.

They ripped up the interior and got the stereo out, and they cut just about every electronic in the front trying to hotwire it. They clipped a bunch wires in the harness so now the horn and hazards don't work, nor does the cigarette lighter.

They also stole all of my tools (I had 3 tool boxes under blankets with almost every tool I own which I put in the truck because I was going to be installing some rock lights and the anti-theft) and my box of zipties.

They had a stolen bike in the back, which is now on the way back to its owner.

I've gotten it cleaned up a little and I put in a few anti-theft devices.

I'm considering making a device that's like a sprinkler system, and if they attempt to start the truck without disabling the system, they get hit with a pepper spray bath.
