full detroit will bolt to your ring gear, a tru trac only replaces the spider gears and is held in by the cross pin.

Detroit Truetrac does replace carrier just like Detroit! It is the Lock-rite that replaces spider gears! I have ran both in the front axle of my yota, and for hard core stuff,go full Detroit, if you are going more street /snow go truetrac.Hope this helps you!

it does, but am concerned why they look so identical, am guessing that is a Detroit locker since the person i bought it from said it was and it looks just like the one online in the mc store. so ya, but if theres another way to tell instead of pics it would help me.

I agree with you at a glance they look alike, but there is suttle differences between the two! Maybe there are part #s on the carrier that you could check with Detroit to verify model?Do you see any texture of the cast metal in any spots on the carrier around the bolts?I say this because if I remember correctly that was on my truetrac and not on my Detroit, it was all smooth.Sorry I could not be more informative,Good Luck!
