60" Hi lift Mount Ideas
« on: Oct 28, 2004, 12:02:34 AM »
I decided today that I need to mount my hi-lift somewhere.  I'm tired of it banging around.  I have the big 60" model and its kinda cumbersome.  I also have an over the rail tool box in the bed so mounting it on the bed side would take some creativity.  I thought about mounting it the the floor of the bed but I don't know if thats such a good idea. :dunno:

Any suggestions?

Mount it below the bed just behind the rear bumper (or in front of I guess) or somewhere down low.

Keep the weight down low

Why not mount it to the rear facing side of the toolbox?

Mount it behind the box and in between the cab, on the rail between the metal and the glass. Should be easy there

Why not mount it to hte tool box crossways?  I have mounted mine by drilling a couple holes in the top of the fenderwells and bolting it down and Ive also welded a couple 1/2x2" bolts to the front bumper and mounted it there.

Its too big to fit sideways in front of the box.  And if I put it behind the box, the box can't open all the way.  The jack measures 62" top to bottom.

i thought about mounting mine to the inside of the bed resting on the fender well but bolted to the side. That or just connect it to the back like most do.

Don't use it for a jack. I think that a high-lift is freakin' dangerous. I've seen them bend!
That's how I roll

Yeah we used my friends high-lift as a big lever to fix some bend steering parts.  The jack bends pretty good.

Well I didn't get it mounted in time.  That's ok, I'll work on it next time.  I think I want to shorten it a little bit so it fits sideways between the bed rails, only need to cut off 4 inches.  Then I think it will be easier to mount.  Thanks for the ideas.

:D  I have mine mounted to the front bumper, using the stock mounts.  Seems to work alright for me.

:usa: Oh, yeah I see from that angle looks like a rock grabber.  But I haven't hit it on much more than tree branches on super narrow trails...  The jack is no wider than my fenders so no problems.

i mounted mine resting on the pass. fender in the bed  with a  1/2in bolt and a nut  to keep the
bolt on the fender with a nut and washer for the jack and for one that long you might want to but a bolt behind the tail light so the base has somthing to rest on and i have no rattels

I welded two bolts to my bumper and wraped my winch cable around it.  It works just fine.   :beerchug:
