You think if you hadn't drilled out the restrictor as much, the steering would be less sensitive?

I left my restrictor stock and it works great. Drilled out the pump would whine.

I have been told, if you don't drill out the pump restrictor at least a little, the ram will lag. :dunno:

Well I am back from the con.  The trail is MUCH diff then last year due to the snow run off.  Much harder trail and still a ton of standing water.
Heck Marlin was really surprised at how the trail is.
Did manage to keep it on all fours and not put a single dent in it.  Did scratch the bed twice but very minor.  I did get a dent in my drivers side fender from a trail gear truggy sliding into me.
I took a bunch of pics but my camera is in my buddies rig.  Gonna have him bring it over asap.

Got plenty of more updates but I am tired and need a break.

Why do people keep running into you on the trail ?

Slolyfe

What was the hold up for all you getting out. We had 3 substantial breakdowns after Buck and still no one caught up with us on the way out?

Yep I helped out a few people on the way and one of marlins employees rig broke the pan hard on his truggy.  Since I didnt have to be back I took my time and help get everyone out.  Gonna have to resupply my back up parts now.
Anyways here is the pics of the trips on flickr.  http://www.flickr.com/photos/65358315@N05/5952667706/in/photostream#/photos/65358315@N05/5952584252/in/photostream/lightbox/
The trail is much harder due to the amount of water from the snow melt.  Heck HUGE boulders appeared in the middle of the trail.  All I can make of it is the trail became a creek/river and washed away the dirt around the rocks.
It was crazy.  For me the standing water made my MTR's slick as snot on the rocks.  I LOVE these tires but they do horrible when wet.   In the mud, dirt and dry rocks they do outstanding.  My buddy had new KM2's and they did outstanding when wet.

I installed hydro assist for the 1st time before I went up and wanted to keep the ram low so it wouldnt hit the oil pan.  Didnt work out so well since the ram wasnt parallel with the tie rod. So when I turned left it would pull on the tie rod down and cause the bolt on the ram to catch on the pumpkin.  Wasnt but 1/2 mile into trail when in bound up and broke my ifs box.  Thankfully I had another untapped ifs box and got it swapped out.
Then I lost a front drain plug right before the springs and it ripped a few threads out.  Thank god Marlin was there and had a 18mm x 1.50 tap I could use.  Managed to get it all fixed at the springs.  I love going back up big sluice since its the hardest part of the trail minus little sluice and old sluice.  Not sure why people dont like E-lockers.
On my way out I got stuck behind a jeep that got high centered right at the back side of little sluice.  I had to back out to get to another part in order to get around him.  When I backed up bout 3 feet I ended up on top of a huge boulder and came square onto my drive shaft.  Sadly the jeep winched his way off the boulder then ended up having to pull me up where I could swap drive shafts.  Kinda sucked but I am glad I had a spare shaft.
I am trying to sell my msd to pay for a .120 wall shaft.
Besides all the few things that broke I had a ball.  To be honest im glad it was a little wet.  Kept the dust down.
The worst part of the trail was we were out numbered by jeeps.  I ton of them were 4 rubicons.  Made for a very slow run but thats cool with me since I tend to go really slow anyways.

Forgot to mention on my way home I lost my cat on I5.  When I left Loon my truck was lacking power bad.  Wasnt sure what was up but I suspect it was my cat being plugged up.  It was causing a bad engine vibration under load.  After the front part of the cat broke off the truck was wicked loud but the engine vibration was gone.  Who knows    I have another cat im gonna install here in a few.  Then ill know more.
Also my tcase rear seal is leaking pretty bad so I am gonna replace that as well.  All minor stuff imo.

Its the msd ignition box w/ tach adapter and the toyota wire that hooks to the distributor.
100.00 bucks plus shipping.  Like 12 bux flat rate box.

I made a sweet trade and got some longfield hub gears.  Thats pretty much the last upgrade I needed for the drivetrain.
Next week I will be pulling the head and finding out what went wrong.  I pulled the plugs and #1 was wet.  No water in the oil so thats a good thing.  Hoping its just a bad head gasket.
For now I am working on the ford tow rig.  Go the electrical worked out for the most part and now I am finishing up what I can on the bed.
It will be done long before MCR.  I plan on having it all done so I can do Fordyce as soon as the slow down happens.
No new pics since my camera is still with the guy I went to the con with.  Should have it back sunday.

I finished doing the head gasket and took a her for a test drive.  Seems like shes fixed.  Gonna go check it all out and fix the exhaust leaks.
Plus I need to get my rear drive shaft fixed since I am getting a pretty bad vibration.  I think its just out 180.
If I could sell off some parts I can get a hd drive shaft built.

I want to fordyce since the creek will be slowed down for sierra trek.  Sierra trek is gonna be August 11-14 but from what I understand is that the slow down for fordyce creek will start the week before sierra trek.  If it really is gonna be slowed down then I plan on going.  I prob be entering on the I-80 area.
If someone can confirm the creek slow down dates, then we can get a good group to go.

I went and helped my parents move some crap yesterday.  I found this RC-10 in the garage.  Its missing the battery and front tires,  plus the remote controller.
Figured I would get a battery and a remote for it.  Maybe mod it to run in the dirt better.  Either or thought I would post it.
I found this remote on craigslist Airtronics CX2P Caliper 2 channel racing system for 100.00 bucks.  I cant afford it but wondered if its good remote Jim.
Heck I even have a more powerful engine here at the shop.  I want to be able to use it so I can chase my dog around the yard and wear his ass out. LOL

Back to my yota.  I finally installed the chromoly hub gears and got the head gasket replaced.  Truck seems to be running well.  Just need to adjust the valves again and fix the exhaust again.
I did get a couple hundred bucks for my B-day.  Gonna take one of my old drive shafts down and get it built on monday.  .120 wall so I think im gonna be good on the trail and road.

Today my ford gets a new thermostat and a good radiator flush.  Plus I need to fix the fuel return line o rings.

jimbo74

i have an rc10t that i am not using, it almost runs, just needs a speed control, i think i have an extra remote too.... i am sure we could make a running one

also, my gas one runs, but it's a little sketch, i need to figure out how to tune it right, might just break down and make hobbytown tune it

This RC-10 has a speed controller.  I want to modify mine but I wont do that till I can get a remote and battery to make sure it all works.
We will mess with it when you get back to the states.

jimbo74

that will work then, i have batteries and a remote, receiver, and a servo

Yesterday I pulled my rear axle to fix the pinion angle and put a small plate to stop gear oil from plugging the breather hole.  Hopefully this works and I wont have gear oil spewed all over my rear end.
Also not sure if I the angle I set the pinion at is too much.  I was at 10 degrees and I rotated it to 25 degrees.  The way it was before it was very flat so I think I got it right.  Its harder to set the angle with the U-bolt eliminators I built and the rock assault housing.  Either or ill post pictures of it done here later this afternoon.
Heading out to get some paint and gear oil.

Here is the special jack extension I made to be able to lift the rear end high enough to remove the axle.  Worked out really well.
