98 tacoma long term project
« on: Aug 03, 2009, 05:38:56 PM »
Ok so i ended up tradeing my 4runner for a jeep and selling the Jeep and Bought a 1998 tacoma Ex cab   3rz AT  . This was owned by a pilot and looks like it just came off the showroom floor .   I have never had a Automatic  and not 100% sure i like it But its growing on me . Question ?  it has 235/75/15 tires on it  ( looks funny )  i was thinking of putting some 31 -33 on it  and just driveing it till  i can  SAS it correctly .   should i just do a cheap spacer lift  ? and will going to a 31 hurt the power  ? or do anything to hurt the trans .   From what i have seen these are much more capable off road  than the 2nd gen ifs . any suggest would be helpfull thank you .

I had no real reason to sell the 4runner .  Its just that i have had basicly the same car (i have built many 84-89)  for a long long time , and it was a spur of the moment deal .  Its not like i could not build the same exact 4runner with in a weeks time if i wanted to . I also was able to sell the Jeep for twice as much as i could have got for the 4runner .  The major reason i sold the jeep was ther just is no room . The jeep is cool around town or on a trail  but really not a good traveling rig .   The Tacoma is much nicer to drive  and in all honesty i can do 85% of everything i did with the 4runner . I may end up doing just like you and just building a nice little trail rig  and keeping the tacoma nice ?
