4.3L & hood clearence
« on: Jul 30, 2009, 10:38:47 AM »
Was thinkin of doing a 4.3L swap.  As I asked around I found most people had to add a 3" body lift for the hood to clear.  Has anyone done this swap without the body lift ?   any pics ?

   Thanks,

What year truck you putting it in?  What kinda 4.3?    This would help.

Yes, a 4.3 can fit into a toyota truck with no body lift without cutting the hood.

Pic's would be great !   Thank You !

I talked with Rocky from MC yesterday. He said he thought it would fit and if not we'll make it !!!!   I have a V6 radiator in it now just wondering if I should go bigger ?  Do you have electric fans ?  Have you heard anything on the NWOR motor mounts ?

  Thanks for your help !

It will fit without the BL.  It will get kinda tight between the axle and oil pan.  4" lift should be enough, but you will need to add bumpstop if your super flexy.  I run a BL and I cut some of the inside skin of the Hood to clear radiator.  I run hydro assist, and the ram sits on top of the axle.  BTW my Body lift is 1.5"..

I could live with a 1" to 1.5" BL and a little trimming. I have marlin front springs and chevy rears. It flex's pretty good but still breaking in.  What lift do you have ?  No hydro assist yet. I see you are running the 700 trany how do you like it ? Im thinkin R150 but mostly because I already have it.

I have no problems with the 700R4, and I have 2 spares. The truck is great on the highway, with plenty of power.

I run marlin hybrid rears, toy rears up front.
