New Product: Backing Plate Eliminator Kit
« on: Jul 09, 2009, 06:12:34 PM »

From the desert landscape of Johnson Valley to the beautiful smokey mountains of Tennessee, rocks are everywhere. One place you certainly don't want rocks to be is between your front disk rotors and your backing plates.

By eliminating the stock disk brake backing plate, you eliminate the chance of getting a rock lodged between the plate and the rotor while simultaneously increasing the cooling ability of your brake system. You also improve the cosmetic appeal of your 1979-85 Toyota front axle.

Here are comparison pictures of a stock Toyota truck on the left vs. Marlin's truck on the right. Please note that the caliper hard line will need to be re-mounted if desired.

The lower bearing cap is part of the 25mm steering pin upgrade kit.

So, how does the brake hard line setup without hooking into the backing plate?  Pics please.   :turtlehead:

Absolutely. There are made in California using USA Steel :usa:

I updated the website to reflect that

Yeah this is cool, but if you just drill the two small spot welds that hold the ring and backing plate together on a stock one it comes right apart.  Then just toss the backing plate and use the stock ring without it.

I'll just get these and figure out how to get the brake line mounted.  Since my backing plates are so badly rusted, it all basically is fused together, so I'll need all new brake lines.

I'll be getting these and other stuff in about 20 or 21 days!!  :rofl2:

Great Idea - the brake line tabs 87pickup is referring to:

Best way to do it IMO is to eliminate the hardline that goes into the caliper, Use extended tacoma lines with banjo bolts! Simple bolt on mod!
