not 100% sure how i am going to do this part? i think a small triangle might do it??

made a little progress today finally. nothing big but i got all the plates tack welded in place. now i can see just how i want to do the little triangles in the corners. i also got some stuff together for my ring gear protection.
not sure if i like it but it will have to do. i dont have pics of it yet but what i did was cut the front off my old rear housing. i was shocked to find out the first gen housings only had 1/16" steel protecting the ring gear. i didnt feel like trying to work 1/4" to shape so i went with some 1/8" strap. i am going to double up the 1/8" over the cut out housing, if that makes sense? i will get pix of it later.

well i got some progress today. it has been forever since i have been able to do any work. the axle is fully welded up but tonight i stripped out one of the holes. it seemed a little messed up when i first did it but i thought i would give it a try. so now i got to get it welded up and re-tapped. so monday i will see what i can get done. the bummer is i spent a few hrs today trying to get the housing as clean as possible. oh well it is what it is.
now to some progress pix.

first thing i did was drill the 3rd to fit the new bigger studs. sealed it up pretty good

the baffle fit in nice between the weld and the og tab

what are your plans with the studs for draining?
if i could do it over i think i may have left them regular and only upgraded the middle 4 or whole 8 studs to 3/8"s grade 8s. i am not too sure how the fine thread is going to hold up over time. i shouldnt need to drain my oil a whole lot but it is an area of concern. all in all i am happy with the way it turned out and every thing would have went better if i were able to weld myself and not have to wait on other people.
if you are going to step up to larger studs or bolts be careful.
thanks for the positive feedback
have a good one
