sounds about the same and the timing still retards when I rev the motor and then advances.  Kind of like it hesitates just slightly.  I got my rpms down to 850.  What do you make of the white towel over the tail pipe results?

I'm gonna be afraid when I see your bill!  hehe   :beerchug:

ok, you complicating things with that fancy light,  set it to read straight up

then set the timing at 12*

its the vaccuum that retards the timing then advances it back

When my 22re skipped 2 teeth on the timing chain (advancing the cam), it had absolutely no power above 3000 rpm.

And I could set the timing anywhere without pinging or any effect on power..........

So it might be that the cam isn't aligned correctly.

(3rd 4000 rpm is 64 mph for me)

right now i'm using a plane jane timing light without the max timing knob and i got it at 12*.  If i pulled the valve cover and set the timing mark on the crank pulley to be at 0* and my cam dowel was at 12 o'clock could i still be off when I stabbed the distributor?  Could this lack of power be completely due to the way I've tuned this fuel injection system and not the timing or does it seem as if something is still not right with the timing itself?

we'll get to the fuel later

if it has 2 vaccuum lines on the dist go swap positions on them  and see if that helps
they could be on the wrong port on the vacuum advance

I had the vacuum line originally on the vacuum port closest to the front of the vehicle.  With that line hooked up i'm at 12* and when i rev it the mark drops to about 5* momentarily and then advances.  When I switched the vacuum line to the other port on the distributor the timing dropped to 6* and when I rev the motor it doesn't retard at all it only advances.

Is speedo correct?

For steep hills I go 75 in 3rd at 4800 rpm, 22re, 4.10's, 31's

45 would be 2nd 4300 rpm; 3rd 2800 rpm
thats crazy i cant go 75 down the freeway
