Park Brake cables
« on: May 05, 2009, 10:09:06 AM »
I've just finished all the mods and build up of my 85 sr5 xtra cab. I drove it yesterday for the first time in a year and a half and am stoked on the build. The only problem is the park brake cable that goes from the linkage arm under the cab to the equalizer/left rear wheel on the  axle. I can't seem to locate this part anywhere (canada,eh!). has any one got a line on this? All i can find is the cable from the handle in the cab down to the linkage under the cab..... Can't get the truck safety inspected till its fixed. cheers.

I have a almost new cable that goes from the linkage back, off an 82. It was on the truck for like a month.

Hmmmm, I think the cables on an 85 are different, if not, may be interested. Is the allpro kit the way to go?

Checkout here:

http://www.rockauto.com

They had about 15 different cables listed for 1985 PU, maybe one will be what you need. They have fast shipping and excellent return policies. Good luck.

I think so, I have been using that setup for 5-6 years now. As far as your inspection goes,  :dunno: whats their criteria for passing?

I may have that part that you need, either from a 2nd gen truck, or a taco.  I'll check the taco rear end tommorow, and if its there, take a pic, see if its what you need.
