MCO8 adapter failure HELP MARLIN PLEASE!!!
« on: May 03, 2009, 07:38:52 PM »
Hey guys heres the story i have a dual t case set up using the mco8 r10 2.28 and 4.7 this weekend while going out to the lake to do some fishing i was in in 2.28 driving through some sand and all the sudden something just gave up and started grinding assuming  it was the 2.28 counter gear i shifted into 1 to 1 and drove home later that day i dissambled the case to find that the lower roller bearing on the adapter had failed the cases had been completely gone through new bearing seals etc when assembled and i have only put about 2k miles on the case since finishing the truck wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if this is covered by some sort of warranty thanks :dunno:

Yes you are correct and we got it! Thanks! I was actually talking about this thread to Dave during an afternoon meeting and he said, "You mean from the forum? Oh, we already have it here." I was in disbelief of course

We'll keep you updated

Any updates on this?

I sense a little sarcasm given the post is from 2009, but I actually had one of the adapters that had the issue and mine blew up twice in under 2,000 miles each time. I think the issue ended up being the bearing seat was a couple thousands under and put pressure on the bearing. They didnít have another adapter in stock to support a Moab trip I had planned so Iím still running the Inchworm unit that I put in. My buddy is running my warranty adapter.
1989 4Runner: Dual Ultimate (Inchworm front & Marlin 4.70 rear), Marlin Twin Stick, 1200-lb clutch, 4.88 R&P, Aussie Front, Detroit rear, 30-spline Longs, Long hub gears, ARP hub and knuckle studs & 35x12.50 Cooper STT PRO tires.  Marlin rear bumper & sliders.  FROR front bumper.  SAS with Alcan springs & Rancho 9000XL shocks.  Budbuilt Bolt-on traction bar.  Custom Interior Cage by Those Guys Rod and Customs.

Moab Tested & Rubicon Approved
