how reliable is a lincon lock on stock yota axles

i would just like to know if it will :attention: up on me if i street drive it. iv e been thinking about welding up my spare 3rd member thanks guys

it depends on how well the welder doing it preps the surfaces and knows what he is doing and how to do it... the best way from what i have heard is to use a plate in the spiders.....

doing it improperly can lead to catastrophic failure

lots of people will say don't do it, it is unsafe, lots will say it is just fine.... safety is up to you... it will not perform like an open differential, and you can't go hotrodding it all the time, unless you accept that carnage may result

are you talking about the "locker" itself failing, or just general breakage?  If its welded right, you've got nothing to worry about.

ive been welded front and rear for 3+ yrs and hot rod the crap outta mine,
no breakage in the rear yet on 37"s

I cracked the welds on mine but mine went thru helldordo and broke both rear shafts

Drove mine with a welded rear diff on a daily basis, never broke one yet. Offroad welded makes all difference in the world making up for having to deal with it on the street. One bit of info though for on the street take your turns a little wider in the rain & snow to keep it from stepping out on you. Just get it done right and it will be fine. Somewhere on here are a few good examples of the right way to do it.
