don't do it to big of a gap between gears are you sas ed yet? and why would u want a taller gear any way
put you'r 430s on the detroit you'll be happier just check your back lash swap ring gear over and reset your back lash no need to touch you'r pinion
A quick rule to remember is 1%.The front and rear diffs must be within 1% of each other. If you have a 4.30, you can safely use a 4.26 to 4.34.If you have a 5.29, you can safely use a 5.24 to 5.34.Running a 5.29 and a 5.38 will in fact work, but it makes it hard on the drivetrain. I would not advise it.Yes, you can put the larger V6 carrier into the 4 cyl housing. You will need the Timken set X32010X cone and Y32010Y cup. This has been done for a number of years by ARB.Marlin
Marlin is the man, I used set 32010x on my air locker that has a v6 carrier just like Marlin said. I then used that carrier and put it into my 4 cyl case. Timken side bearing part # 32010x I found them at our Napa for 41.00 a piece.
i have a question about this. Your saying i can just swap the ring gear on my 4.30's over to the 4.10's with out changing the pinions at all. I called the guy here that sets up my axles he said that i would need to swap both ring and pinion and that i cant mismatch gears. Also would i be able to use my 4.30 4 cylinder gear in a v6 housing on a detroit carrier? Thanks, Dillon
No, a 4 cyl carrier cannot be installed into a V6 diff casting.4 cyl carrier;Cone LM603049 45.2 mmCup LM603014 79.9 mmV6 carrierCone X32010X 50.0 mmCup Y32010Y 80.0 mmTherefor, you need a bearing: 45.2mm (1.25/32") x 80.0 mm. This combination is not available.Years ago, ARB made the first Turbo, V6 air locker by pressing sleeves onto the small diameter 4 cyl carrier, and then OD grinding them to 50.0 mm. This is the only way that I have ever seen this done. That's a lot of work to put a weaker, smaller carrier into the V6 housing.Marlin
