« on: Mar 17, 2009, 12:30:35 PM »
so on my last outting to the hot springs. my front drive shaft kept on spinning. 4lo and 4high work good. but when i try to shift to 2high it stays in 4high. check my hubs and they are at free, checked the yoke on the t-case and when its just sitting it still spins. anyone have any answers ? before i start ripping it apart ?

its probably barely spinning, just a little friction.  go drive it around a little and see what happens.  if it doesnt unlock id dive into the hubs before the tcase

There is a ring inside your hubs if one or both get bent from locking and unlocking them they won't unlock. It will seem like everything is working but it isn't. Check that first I just recently had one go bad and it wouldn't unlock.

The easiest way to check is jack the front and unlock your hubs spin the tires and see if one of them spins the ds, you've found the guilty hub.

so i think my hub is fucked. raised up the front w/ a jack, and spun the tires. it turns out its the passenger hub. so cleaned it out put a thin coat of grease over the gear and reassemble everything all is good. until i lock the hub and put it back to free.

the hub will just stay stuck in locked.

after messing around w/ it, i thought i'll take driver side hub. tried that and its the same thing.

dont know what else to do. anyone have any ideas ??

oh and rocksurfer what is this ring you are talking about ?
