no problem  with tierod clearance,

i have some 1/8 inch plate  that im going to  use,  but im getting it  mounted  so i can move the thing around,  i can  put the outside plating on later

the  support on the inside of the frame is what  really  matters,  and  i'm not that hard  on my truck,  but yes  i do plan to plate the entire  front area of the frame

My opinion >> Your gonna wish you mounted the box further foward, you need to sleve that frame asap, 1/8 inch plate isn't enough, 3/16 would be my acceptable minimun, but I used 5/16. The outside of the frame uses thicker plating from most vendors, so why would the inside of the frame be more important to plate than the outside?
:headscratch:

Hey Glen over build this part 2xs as much as you'd think it would take.  :twocents:

x2 on this...I started with 3/16th plating and recently doubled up on the outside cause after the con the box was loosening up.

i agree with this as well...do you have a picture straight from the side showing drag and tie rod? I would use 1/4 inch plate for that frame

further forward :ack:  its  all the way forward without chopping the body mount,  i have no need to move the axle further forward  than the Allpro springs  make it,  1 inch i think

You can get some pipe niples from the local hardware store to use for sleves, just cut off the threads. Oh and that 1/4 would be the ticket. When you add the drop hanger later on You may have to move the box again becouse of tierod/draglink clearance. You did say you were gonna get some 35s right? if so further foward is easy if done now.

Incase ya don't have one one of those step drill bitts is the 3rd best way to open up some holes in the frame . 1st would be a plasma cutter, and my prefered method. 2nd would be a torch.
Make the frame holes on the inside as big as the sleves and the outside Holes(of the frame) can be as big as the welds that butt the tubes to the 1/4 plate. Get everything flush and sitting flat before welding it up solid. You can even put extra holes in your plates for some plug welds. I highly recommend it, hit its not nescissary.

I wish I were there to help!  :smooch:  Heck if your stuff was up here it would be so easy.

yea  i thought about the hole saw

Infernal said these springs  move the axle forward 1 inch,  and where the box is now  the  tierod and draglink   wont come  even close to each other,  at the closest  maybe 2 inchs

I didnt know you planned to do a drop hanger later on, if that is the case then yeah you should move the box foreward now. Big PITA to do it again with the plating. I regret not thinking ahead on mine I wish I had mounted mine about an inch and a half further foreward.

Looks like the pitman is over that draglink which means they're gonna hit. You should move it forward like cteng's

Dennis said he was doing something like that to his rig. I couldn't understand how it would make the frame more ridigid. He seemed convinced that it would all be good though. He said he could see his frame tweak and move as he steered back and forth, and that was before the hydro assist.
