Topic: Help identifying a top vs forward shift t-case

hey guys,

I'm going on Saturday to look at some transfer cases that a guy has for sale.  He said he thinks there is a top shift case but isn't sure.  I am looking to do duals on my 85.  How can I identify whether or not it is a top shift vs a forward shift?  Pictures?  Is there any way to determine functionality? 

Also, is $50 fair?

$50 is a good price.

top shift will have a shifter bolted to the top of the case, forward shift will have shift rails protruding several inches from the front of the case.

from what I understand it is pretty simple to convert a forward into a top.... should I get the case even if it's forward or should I hold out to find a top?

its pretty simple, but you still gtta take it apart to do it.....
