1 man brake bleeding
« on: Feb 03, 2009, 04:45:07 PM »
this is what I'm hoping will work

its the gravity/all alone method, I filled the brake res. up and cracked open the two rear bleeders, now I should be able to get fluid in the lines and beg the wifey to push on the pedal by tommorow....

what do ya think will it work or am I wasting my brake fluid and time ???

When I have to bleed brakes by myself I just pump the pedal a few times then jam a 2x4 between the pedal and the seat (cut to the right length to keep the pedal at the floor), then jump out and crack the bleeder screw, tighten bleeder screw, remove 2x4 and repeat. It kinda sucks running around doing it by yourself that way but it works. I bleed my brakes and my clutch this way..... when I cannot con someone into helping me.

I'll mail it to you, in three days you can bleed your brakes, or go to Napa and and never have to deal with this crap again (about 40 bucks).

DIY speed bleeder
« Reply #13 on: Feb 03, 2009, 06:51:34 PM »
Goto pet store.

Get an aquarium air line check valve (rubber flapper kind)

Remove bleed screw, wrap teflon tape around threads, reinstall.

Put the check valve in the drain hose, and crack open the bleeder and bleed away by pumping the pedal...........

Don't forget the load sensing valve in the rear if you have one

russell also makes speed bleeders, they have them @ summit and jegs and other auto parts stores too.... just replace the stock bleeders, crack open, pump, close....... next wheel

True, but I'm frugal....

Not necessary for gravity bleeding.  Although it is much easier to clean up afterwards.

You are gravity bleeding.  Open the valves and make sure the resy doesnt go dry.

Another method is to have your line submerged in clean brake fluid.  Open valve and start pumping!  Since the line is in brake fluid, air will be forced out, and fluid will be sucked back in the line.

Offer a neighboor kid candy.  :P

Drive to a laundry mat, offer to feed someones dryer in exchange for them pressing on your brake pedal.  :P

Gravity bleeding is a good way to exchange out old/new brake fluid if you don't have access to one of those kewl vaccumm bleeders.  If you have *junk* in your line that needs to be forced out, you'll want to find a helper to press the petal anyways..  (You'll know when you open the bleeder valve and no fluid drains out..  DOH! )

1. Drivers side rear
2. Passenger side rear

Dude, you look too young to buy any alcohol to get that hot chick feeling frisky. Although the shag carpet and the extra pillows do set the mood.
