square drivelines
« on: Jan 28, 2009, 07:24:46 PM »
send me your stock toyota driveline or 2 toyota u joint yokes and i will turn it into a square one for you.
all i need is the measurement from the 3rd member flange nut to the transfercase flange nut and some info about your front suspension so i can judge how much of the male shaft should be exposed at ride height. this varries depending on how much your truck is lifted and how much your suspension compresses and droops.
i will buy the materials at my local steep shop, so you would only need to send me toyota yokes or a stock toyota driveline.

for $100 i will make a basic square shaft by just attaching the square tubing to the yokes and capping the male end.
this basic shaft works great, but the downside is you hear the driveshaft when you drive. it goes click click click.

for $140 i will take a basic square shaft and add a zerk fitting to the female shaft and i will also weld shims to the side of the male shaft to take up the small ammount of slop, making the driveline significantly quieter.

you must pay shipping both ways. the turnaround time would be 1 or 2 days depending on how busy i am.
i live in santa rosa, california...so if you are close and want one built it might be cheaper to drive it instead of ship it.
a finished square shaft weighs about 40 to 50 lbs i would guess.

let me know if you are interested or have any questions or comments. im not sure how big the demand is for square driveshafts, but i have had great success making them so i thought i would offer it to the people of :turtle:

i only have a couple yokes and they are off of my 82 stock driveline and they are crap.  i dont know what you mean by longer slip yoke though... the yokes hold the u joints. the splines are what slip.
so if you want me to make a driveline for you you will have to provide the yokes
