G52 issues
« on: Jan 27, 2009, 08:53:12 PM »
'84 G52 trans. What would cause it to pop out of first gear under load (taking off uphill from a stop) and engine braking (down hill)??? Seems to me that it should pop out one way or the other... But I haven't jumped into the deep end on a transmission yet...

Also, the trans will not down shift from 5th to 4th, you have to shift it up to 3rd a little, then back into 4th and it's fine. Is this a bad syncro? Thanks for any help!

maybe a bad syncro but i'd try replacing the bushings for the shifter.

oops
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE
AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.

IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU HAVE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.
