What kind of chain did you use?  Alot of the aftermarket chains are not very good.

Back to the drawing board.. bent the intake valves on the #1 and #4 cylinders.
Any ideas????

I had left one of the guides out on the #2 cam bearing....Fixed that and replaced the chain, it has been doing great ever since.
I bought all of the engine parts (except the cam) from Japanengines.com, GREAT customer service.....

Life has a way of changing with out warning....I came home one evening and was told by my wife " I have a do it yourself divorice kit, you need to get out by this weekend." She dumped the car I bought her on me soooooo, I traded it in on this: My Christmas present to me....

Then I got new tires and wheels for Valentines day...

I have been letting my son use the woods truck until he goes to Bootcamp on 9/11/11.. Then I am going to go through it again... He has beat the poor thing to death..

Well crap, I had been letting my son use the woods truck....Broke the timing chain, AGAIN..
So here I go again...lol

I am going to go through the whole truck again, fix a few of the issues I've had.. I think I'm going to cut the top off, cage it and add some tube doors this time.

This the second one on my truck...It is a single chain..
LC engineering has a double chain replacement kit, but it ain't cheap.

I think the tensionor stuck on mine, it is worn worse than the original one I replaced when I rebuilt the engine.
And the short guide disintegrated, not sure if that was caused by the chain breaking or caused it to break.

I haven't pulled the head yet, so I'm not sure what else is broke or bent yet.

I have everything cleaned and ready to go back together.....I tried everything to clean the head, short of having it hot tanked..It still looked awful, so I painted it to match the block (catipiller yellow this time).
Any opinions on painting the head?? good or bad idea?? Thanks in advance.

I also stripped the interior and pressure washed it.....Lesson learned, NEVER let your teenaged son play with your toys.....

Slowly but surely I will get it back in shape...

DE-Construction has begun......Stripped everything down and cut a BIG hole in the roof....Going to make a canvas top for it and some half doors (tubular covered in canvas) think Heep type...

sorry about the crappy cell phone pic.

Got a little bit done over the past week or so..

Finished welding in the filler to the roof skin..

Looks like someone beat the roof with a hammer, this is why I thought of doing the canvas top.. I'm nooooo body man and there were way to many dents.....

Here is a pic of the door frame, kinda like a heep...Going to cover them with canvas too.

Why should HEEP owners be the only ones to enjoy the Sun??

Nice clean build

Thanks....It kinda sucks that I have to go through everything again.....At least the frame and running gear is still good....Mostly cleaning and paint this time...

It gives me something to do...I work nights (12 hour shifts) so when I'm off, everyone else is sleeping....

I used to work the same shift it was nice because while everybody was at work i could be as loud as i want with all the tools & have the music cranked up in the garage it was awesome. Then if i had a day off & it was during there sleeping time i was still a jerk just told everybody that i make the money around here so deal with im gonna work on the yota & drink beer all night so thats what i did (garage was not connected to house) but still i got alot of work done.

This is the color I am going with this time...Sruce Green Satin.. Not the (everyone uses ) usual olive drab..
It looks good with a slight shine.

Got a lot done this weekend....almost ready to start putting it back together..RUSTOLEUM, gotta love it...

I think I am going to have to sand the hood down again..For some reason, it looks like it has a leather grain in spots..

The bed came out pretty good...

I had some runs on the right front fender. The lighting is not that good on that side of the shop....No biggie.

 Got more done this weekend.....
Most important, AC for the cave..

Then something to hang the doors out of the way...

The stock doors will be here most of the time.....

And I repainted the old, old 1st gen emblem and reinstalled it on the hood..
.

I also got the grill and headlight buckets repainted....Hopefully this weekend (Mon & Tues) I can get every thing put back together...Then get busy on the engine again..

Got some things done...
1st I had to make a new screen for my snorkel..My son busted up the orginal one, don't
ask me how...

So I made what I call a Joey proof cover..

Then I made the snorkel about 4 inches shorter..I never did like how tall it was.

Then I started on the dash...When I rebuilt the truck the first time it had 1 crack in it and the speaker hole was messed up...When I got the truck back it was all F'd up, broke in the middle and full of cracks...again, how does someone do something like this...
So I reinforced it on both sides..

Then I filled the cracks with a general purpose filler from Lowe's...

I deleted the pick of it all sanded down...The filler (made by 3M )was real easy to work with.

Then primed.

I painted it with a Satan Black Hammer Rustoleum..

Got a set of wheels off craigslist 5 wheels for $200. like new, I went a head and repainted them.
..

Then wieghed out some BB's.. The Dynabead chart called for 8 ounces, I put in 10..figured these tires are used, so may need a little more.
..

Mounted. The Gumbo's are a lot bigger than the LTB's I had on it when I first built the truck.

 And on the truck...

4 really good used tires and 5 wheels, mounted balanced on the truck for $406.75    Happy fathers day/ birthday to me...lol

Got somethings done Wed. night...Got the head on and the timing chain.....Went to put the timing chain cover on, that's when I noticed Advance sent the wrong flipping gaskets... So I did the rear brakes and some piddly crap...

Finished up the new airbox, a water proof electrical box from Lowe's..

Then just for fun......My Girlfriend started this by the way, she calls it a Z.A.V.   Zombie Assault Vehicle.

Something else I had to do Wed. get this flipping stick out of the right rear tire of my Tacoma.

NO FUN.....At least it didn't puncture it..
Working a 4 day stretch (12's) Hopefully I will get it running Monday night....
