ANOTHER REASON TO LAUGH AT JEEPS!
« on: Aug 27, 2004, 01:18:00 AM »
well my buddy in his 99 cherokee was trying to goof around in a parking lot. i guess he put it into 4lo and nothing happened. so then he put it into 2hi, nothing. so he was stranded. luckily nick had a good eye and we turned around to find out he was in trouble. so nick and i got the linkage so what back together, enough for him to get home and call at tow truck. anyway make fun please!

As a Jeep owner I see nothing funny it that!!! I hate it when something like that happens, on rutted hill climbs my clutch linkage will lock up. If it doesn't make it up I can't depress the clutch at all. It can get scary sometimes then once I try to restart it again I can't depress the clutch so I end up having to get one of my Yota friends to drag my sorry ass the rest of the way up. This is one of the many reasons I went back to a Yota as my primary wheeler.

If you've ever owned one you'd understand why I feel sorry for a Jeep owner and won't laugh at them........

......Oh what the hell.     :screwy:    :slap:

Bet it has a broken motor mount. 4.0 is a torqy little motor. They tend to break motormounts. Course so to Toyota's.

my Heep wasn't that bad. When I went to Oregon ( Tillamook Forest ) with some other Jeepers, I was the only one that didn't have 4wd ( front driveshaft wasn't in ) to make it up the hill in November, raining like a bi**h, I was the only one lifted with slightly aggressive tires as well....

so, that's all I do is mall-crawl :beerchug:

Well I own a Jeep and that's never happened to me...I guess you guys must have been doing some serious parking wheeling. :bowdown:now that's hardcore,I mean all those curbs...Oh yeah, let's not forget speedbumps.I hope I can be a serious wheeler like that someday, but for now I'll just stick to rockcrawling and extreme trails........................It's not what you buy...It's what you build.

I was at the forest fest in Big Bear this year and on sunday I was the only toyota on John Bull and I have to say I got snubbed, no one would talk to me, I'd go to take the hardest lines I could and when they saw it was me they'd all walk away, when we ate lunch I ate alone and when I tried to go up to a couple of guys to talk they just ignored me. I know a few cool jeep guys but to all the rest that are jerks  :moon: Infernal Jeep of course is not included with the jerk jeepers

Yo thanx alot Wraith...But you know what?I have to agree with you.I say that about 99 to 100% of the jeep owners, specially in our area, are straight up a$$h@les.They're all stuck up,and swear their s#!t dont stink.About two years ago,I went to the IE4w's meeting in Colton, but drove up in my DD.I walked up to talk to this one fool, and I swear he just shined me on,his wife talked to me,but kept an eye on me as I checked out their built cj8,as if I was going to steal something. That's just one of many stories.Since I don't drive my jeep around,I'd find myself going up to jeep owners, and they would be straight up jerks, even when I'd tell them I was a Jeep owner,it's like they'd ask certain questions at first to see if I knew what I was talking about, and when they found out that I did, their attitudes would totaly change.I say screw those people, that's why I prefer to hang out with Yota owners,Zuki owners, anything but the stuck up Jeep crowd.

Could it be that all these Jeep owners know that Yota's are better and is why they won't talk to us? Granted I have a Jeep too, but if given a choice I prefer my Yota. My jeep is my hotrod and my Yota is for the rocks. I must say though in the 15 odd years I've wheeled I've broke my yota's here and there, mostly the IFS on a 4Runner I had, but I break my Jeep every time I take it out.  I have been to the Rubicon with 3 different vehicles, an IFS 4Runner, a Samurai and my Jeep, the only vehicle that didn't make it all the way through was the Jeep and it was major, broke the frame and tcase. Took over a year to get it back out and it instantly broke a driveshaft.

Last year alone:

Jeep:
tcase
steeringbox mount broke
brakes went out (now they pull hard)
rear ring gear
broken frame
radiator
clutch linkage
steeringbox seal
driveshaft
electrical short

Yota:

Infernal was that cj8 a tan colored one? There was a tan colored cj8 on Holcomb that was trick, totally cool but it's driver was a punk and also an IE4W guy.

No,it was a green one sporting 1ton axles on 38 swampers. It was cool but it's owner's attitude made it a POS.I think I've seen the tan colored one.Does it have red beadlocks? If it's the one I'm thinking of,I've seen it at TDS.He's from Riverside.Mostly all of those IE4W are pr!cks...

Man and I thought I broke alot  :headshake:

Most importantly most of it is 48 Willys, but everything has been upgraded, rebuilt and so on. I never have any trouble with the buick V6 motor or the M22 trans (like I could hurt that trans), but the tcase is an 18, the axles are dana 41 & 25 respectively. About the only thing that is aftermarket that has failed was the steering box (Saginaw) out of a Buick and it failed because when the frame broke it jammed up and into the front crossmember. The frame is completly boxed and it still cracks all the time, it flexes so much that the paint gets rubbed off the fenders by the hood. Still it is a blast to drive, will do a wheelie out of the gate and smoke the tires through 3rd on 33x12.50/15 tires. If it is sitting at an idle most people think it is a V8 under the hood.

Still won't out wheel my yota though. :beerchug:
