2001 Tacoma...Auto to Manual.
« on: Nov 03, 2008, 04:34:11 PM »
I don't have a cool name for my project. However I'm already scratching my head at my first objective.

I have 2001 Tacoma double cab - Prerunner. I have a r150, and Dual Tcases. I plan to order the Total Spline™ 2.28:1 Turbo Input now that I have some cash freed up from selling my 4runner.

I'll be grabbing the parts from home and giving marlin a call shortly. However, what else is going to be required for the manual conversion? clutch pedal assembly, clutch cylinder? can anyone give me a step by step for what other parts are needed from the pedal and forward? Any wiring issues I'll be coming across?

I'm not familiar with the newer Tacoma's so I'm not sure if there are extra bits and pieces...

Youre going to need the clutch slave, clutch master cyl, the clutch hard lines, clutch pedal assmbly, and to make it easier, id just throw in a M/T computer rather then tripping the A/T computer taht it is in park.

Also you will need some drill bits and a hole saw to cut out the hole in the firewall.
RIP Kyota.... you are the man

GET IT!!!

just gonna add you need a clutch and brake pedal given that the auto brake pedal is quite a bit larger than a manual brake pedal.

second if you dont want to spend the money find the park neutral safety switch plug that goes to the tranny and jumper it out.
rest in peace Effay

Thanks for the heads up guys...Has this been done yet? I thought with double cabs this may have been common?

clutch slave
clutch master cyl
the clutch hard lines
clutch and brake pedal assembly
Manual tranny computer or jumper the park neutral safety...

may try to hit the wrecker and look at a manual tranny taco and get an idea of the layout...

IS anyone aware of bolt pattern issues between the 90's r150 and the 3.4 ??? I'm hearing different stories now that the older r150 trans won't mount up to the 3.4 liter.
