how do you find spline count?

i'm going to put in a rear locker on 80 stock 4:10 r/p do I need to pull the axle to get the spline count????  or are they all pretty much the same? :headscratch:

count, use your fingers if you dont know how.  you have ten fingers total so 6 hands will be 30 splines

I was thinking the same thing but then remembered that I can't count to 30.

If you take your shoes off you can at least make it to 20.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE
AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.

IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU HAVE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.

Well I almost got higher than that once by counting to 5 on one hand and then adding by 5 on the other but I got confused when I tried to add it all up.
