Time to get ready for winter!
« on: Sep 01, 2008, 04:27:55 PM »
So winter is coming in a few months and i gotta get the tracker ready for it. Some things that need to be done are replace body lift, seal up the gas tank, replace steering linkage, get new tires, get a alignment done, convert the rear coils to leaf springs, and last but not least do a SPOA.

As you can see the front tires are hand slick due to me not getting that alignment like i should have :outtahere:

But the one major thing that kept me from playing in the snow or sometimes even getting to work was the rear 3 link kept taking a dump on me, to be more specific the top ball joint thats mounted to the axle. So gonna be converting that to leaf springs like the front, still debating on what leafs I'm gonna go with cause Money is always the problem these days. But more than likely gonna be using the springs out of a older ford pick up frame we have in back, its a 2wd truck but more than likely gonna have to take a spring or 2 out to soften it up. Ill do my best to keep you guys up dated but i just recently moved out so got no net at my place ( go figure)

But ill see what i can do. And heres 2 vid links, we were just messing around but was still fun. The one of me pulling out the blazer its what caused my body mounts to shift, which bent my steering link, and tore a nice gap on the tank were the filler hose connects, but got him out. Then he got stuck 2 minutes later  :hammerhead:

dude, all you need  to get your front end close is a tape measure,  i would say  from looking at the tires  its over 1 inch off

Well today was a sad sad day, somthing ive actuly been dreading but i know it will pay off.

I had to put the stockers on................. :outtahere:

But im gonna be getting started on the rear end friday im hoping.

Whats let to do:
Redo rear suspension (A. Add a new top link or B. Convert to leaf springs)
Get the new tires ( same size as what i had 33x12.50 15)
Make new front and rear bumpers
Make fender flares to keep the local police happy
Get new cluster
Get new driverside mirror ( Lost the battle with the tree but not the war)
Get front alignment done and beef-up Steering linkage
Tune up
Get new clutch cable ( maybe clutch also)
Re mount winch
Redo Exhaust

It know i know it looks dorky with the stockers but you gotta do what you gotta do i guess, plus its only temporary. Still has some good flex atleast
