Hawaiian Style Toys.
« on: Aug 13, 2008, 02:49:35 PM »
Here's a few pics of some 808 style Toys, some of these guys are friends of mine from the Big Island and some are friends of theirs. These rigs were not built for rock crawling so please,no comments about them being to tall for the rocks  .I have always had a soft spot for these Toys because that's all I wanted when I was younger and even though I've owned a few Toyotas,I never had one the way I wanted it back then  .So here's a couple of my friends and their friends:

This is the only one other than mine that I've seen with a 4Runner grill/headlight conversion
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE
AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.

IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU HAVE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.

They play in the sand alot and the wide footprint  works real good in the sand, they don't have very many rocks overthere. Also,it's the look alot of them go for.Alot of them run 15X14s and there is even a guy overthere that was making 15X18s.Most of those tires really aren't that skinny, the majority are 14.5 and 15.5s.

Same here.

I understand having a wide footprint is great for the sand, hell I live at the beach, but I don't understand stretching tires onto rims that are too wide. Or why they run boggers for sand either.
It was just crazy to see this deer leap all suicidal style off this embankment right in front of us.

I'd say they are just going with the current trend, there is some wheelin' there but nothing like here so for the most part it's just a look. We stuff huge tires in small rims to keep from ripping our rims up, they on the other hand don't have those issues or they'd be trying to protect them like we do.

i definitely have respect for the people that can build a clean rig and keep it clean, i just dont fully understand the concept/purpose of building it the way they do. :dunno: but worth looking at anyways
