Adding Fuel Injection to 22R
« on: Aug 02, 2008, 07:19:10 PM »
I got a 85 Toyota P/U W/22R. I learned today that it is a 81-84 engine. I am trying to install a fuel injection intake that would fit a RE head. I have learned that the intake ports line up but the bolt holes do not. I am hoping someone may know a trick to get this set up. I also learned today that a 22-RE head will not work on this older motor.

Here is another option:
20R-E build

Also, why not just go propane?

After almost a full day digging around online, Ive learned that I can simply drill and tap 3 holes on the 22R head and make it work . Unless there is something I've missed. I grabbed this injection setup for $50. It came with everything but the fuel pump and the air filter box. I've looked into propane and just still a bit heistant on it. I could see me running out of barbegue juice in the middle of a trip and be screwed. Also, I work on cars all day everyday and have seen propane burn valves on alot of street vehicles. I got lots of buddies that have it though and are happy with it. I am sure I'll get there someday

Yes, as long as there is the boss to drill and tap.
